Tax Structure 2012
At a meeting of Council held on December 13, 2011 the following rates and charges were approved pursuant to the terms of the Towns 2012 Budget and are hereby published in accordance with the provisions of Section 109 (1) of the Municipalities Act.
Note:
There will be a 2% Discount on property, business, poll , water and sewer taxes for citizens if paid in full by March 31, 2012.
1. Section 112 of the Municipalities Act - Real Property Tax of 9.5 Mills on the assessed value of the property. Minimum Tax is $300.00.
5% Discount on property tax for Senior Citizens if paid in full by March 31, 2012.
2. Section 120 of the Municipalities Act- Business Tax
Minimum Business Tax - $200.00
Minimum Home Base Business Tax - $200.00
150 Mills on the assessed value of the property for Banks and Finance Companies
65 Mills on the assessed value of the property for Oil Companies
10 Mills on the assessed value of the property for Hotel & Motel
20 Mills on the assessed value of the property for Funeral Homes
20 Mills on the assessed value of the property for Professional Office and Drug Stores
18 Mills on the assessed value of the property for Beauty Salons and Barber Shops
8 Mills on the assessed value of the property for Private Schools and Colleges
Utility Companies and Cable T.V. Companies - 2.5% of 2011 Gross Revenue
13 Mills on the assessed value of the property for businesses other than the ones listed above
$200.00 Minium for Day Care Centers
10 Mills on the assessed value of the property for Theaters
Business that have no real property assessment an Annual Tax Rate of $1000.00 or 1/4 of 1% of Gross Revenue which ever is lesser to a minimum of $200.00. The tax is to be based on the previous years gross sales.
Industrial Park
10 Mills on the assessed value of the property for businesses other than Oil Companies
3. Section 126-1 of the Municipalities Act - Poll Tax $200.00 per annum per person.
4. Section 130-1 of the Municipalities Act - Water and Sewerage Rates
If a rental property is vacant for three consecutive months, than a maximum of a 25% discount can be offered to residential water and sewer related to the rental property

10. Interest will be charged on accounts in arrears.
